Telemarketing Scam – Warning

We have been advised that a telemarketing scam is being used to attempt to secure credit card details by offering an insurance premium significantly cheaper than the person is currently paying. The scammers are contacting people by telephone and offering them a better deal on their insurance. They then request details about the person and their current insurance premiums.

The scammers then guarantee to beat that price, however, the cheap premium is subject to immediate payment by credit card.

The scammers in this case have used the name of a Resilium Authorised Representative Practice when contacting people. The Practice has contacted the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and they advised the AR to log the incident with the ACCC Scam Watch.

Could all clients please be vigilant and if you become aware of your Insurance Companies Name being used as part of one of these scams, please report the incident immediately to your Insurer and log the incident with Scam Watch (www.scamwatch.gov.au).
